Introduction
East Sussex Wildlife Rescue Ambulance Service (WRAS) was founded by Trevor Weeks in 1996 as a voluntary group. Trevor, now the Operations Director, established WRAS to provide a front-line rescue service for wildlife casualties, who, unlike their domesticated counterparts, do not have owners to care for them. WRAS is unique in its possession of dedicated ambulances, which support the efforts of volunteers and staff in aiding wildlife throughout East Sussex.
The Challenge
WRAS approached us to build a new website that would effectively communicate their incredible work to a broader audience. Their existing website was outdated and failed to present information clearly. Additionally, WRAS needed the new website to serve their internal team with a protected area and facilitate volunteer sign-ups, which were previously handled through paper forms.
Our Solution
Modern Design and Clear Communication:
We designed a modern, user-friendly website that showcases WRAS’s work. The new layout and design elements ensure that visitors can easily find information about the organisation's services, wildlife rescue stories, and ways to support WRAS.
Volunteer Sign-Up Process:
Transitioning from paper forms to online applications, we created digital forms for volunteer sign-ups. This not only made the process more efficient but also increased the reach and accessibility for potential volunteers.
Internal Team Functionality:
To support WRAS’s internal operations, we developed a protected area on the website. This area allows staff and volunteers to access necessary resources securely, streamlining their workflow and communication.
Green Hosting:
In alignment with WRAS’s mission to protect wildlife and the environment, the new website is hosted on our UK-based green hosting platform. This ensures that the website's operations have a minimal carbon footprint.
Launch and Future Plans
The new website was successfully launched and has received positive feedback from both WRAS and its audience. We look forward to continuing our partnership with WRAS, helping them expand their online services and further enhancing their website to support their mission.
