This page explains what personal information we collect, why, how long we keep it and what control you have over it. Plain English, no tricks.

Who we are
MJS Media is a video content and podcast production company, registered in England and Wales (company number 09511530). Our studio is MJS Studio, Office 10, Charter House, 43 St Leonards Road, Bexhill-on-Sea, TN40 1JA.
We are the controller of the personal information described here. If you have any questions, email [email protected] or call 01424 559589.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, business name, what you’re interested in and anything you tell us about your project. We use this to reply to you and, if you go ahead, to plan and deliver your work.
Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
When you ask for support
Existing clients can use our support form. It asks for your name, email address, the subject and your message. We use this to fix the problem and keep a record of what we did. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you.
When you book a studio session
Bookings are made through Calendly, which collects your name, email address and anything you add to the booking. Calendly processes this on our behalf. Studio deposits are paid by card through Stripe when you book, or by bank transfer when we invoice you.
When we work together
If you become a client, we keep contact details, project information, invoices and the footage we film for you. We need these to deliver the work, get paid and meet our legal and tax obligations.
When you browse the site
With your permission, we use analytics to see which pages people visit and how they find us, so we can improve the site. See the cookies section below. We never use analytics to identify you personally.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We only share it with services that help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Our UK-based web hosting provider, which stores the website and its data.
- Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services, which deliver the website securely and store its images and videos.
- Mailgun, which delivers the emails sent by our website forms.
- Microsoft 365, our email provider.
- Calendly, for bookings.
- Stripe, for card payments.
- Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Xero, our accounting software, and our accountant, for invoices.
- Freelance editors who help with client projects, under confidentiality terms.
Some of these services are based outside the UK. Where that happens, they protect your information with safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries and emails that don’t lead to work: 2 years, then deleted.
- Client records and invoices: 6 years after the work ends, as required for tax.
- Raw footage and project files: 6 months after delivery, unless we agree otherwise.
- Analytics data: 14 months.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We only set non-essential cookies if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Videos on our site are hosted by us, or embedded from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo (do-not-track mode). Embedded players don’t load, or set cookies, until you press play.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct anything that’s wrong
- delete your information
- stop or limit how we use it
- send it to you or another company in a usable format
Email [email protected] and we’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We’ll update this page if anything changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
