Why Your Recording Space Matters
After years of helping businesses create video content, one thing became increasingly clear: the space you record in really matters. A lot more than people realise.
You’ve probably experienced it. You’re ready to film something important, you’ve prepped your points, you’re feeling confident and then the printer starts up. Someone’s on a loud call next door. The lighting makes you look like you’ve had a long week. And after a few interruptions and technical hiccups, that spark you started with is gone. We’ve seen this play out more times than we can count.
The Problem with Filming in Offices
For a long time, we just worked around it. Most of our shoots were on location, usually in the client’s office. It made sense on paper. Familiar surroundings, easier logistics. But more often than not, the space didn’t support the kind of content we were aiming to create.
Offices are designed for work, not video. Open-plan layouts are noisy. Meeting rooms tend to echo. And the lighting… well, let’s just say it rarely does anyone any favours. Even when the setting seemed okay, there was always something that threw things off! A colleague interrupting, background noise, or just the fact that you’re trying to perform in a space where you’re usually in “work mode”.
What Changed: Lessons from Podcasting
The real turning point came from my own experience hosting a podcast. Over the last few years I’ve interviewd over 100 guests. The standout ones weren’t just about having good microphones or the latest gear. It was the atmosphere. The way the space was set up so that the guest could feel relaxed. Somewhere you could sit down, have a proper conversation, and not worry about anything else.
And I started thinking: why don’t we have this? Why are we asking clients to do their best work in spaces that clearly aren’t built for it?
The Birth of S80 Studios
That’s what led us to build S80 Studios, our dedicated video and podcast recording space in Bexhill.
We didn’t want a clinical, overly engineered setup that felt more like a broadcast bunker than a creative space. We wanted somewhere that felt relaxed, comfortable, and easy to work in, but still delivered proper, professional results.
So we built something that ticked all the boxes: great lighting, comfy chairs, the right gear, but just as importantly, a space where people can show up and feel at ease.
A Space for Everyone
While we use it for our own content, we also offer it as a dry hire space. Not everyone wants or needs the whole team, some people just need a solid place to film. And that’s fine. Whether someone’s bringing their own gear, their own crew, or just turning up with a plan, the space works.
Why Environment Shapes Better Content
Building S80 Studios wasn’t just about having a shiny new location. It was about creating an environment that helps people do their best work. Because good content isn’t just about what you say, it’s about how well you can say it. And that’s much easier when the space is working with you, not against you.
Whether you’re creating a podcast, filming brand content, or just want to get away from office chaos and into a space that’s actually designed for this stuff, that’s exactly why S80 exists.
We built it because we needed it. And we know you probably do too.
