Stella Doula

She told us that in her logo, she would like to communicate an image of strength, nurturing, empowering, wisdom, contemporary…. nothing too rustic or fluffy. The company name is Stella Doula, so we discussed possibly including the initials within the logo somehow. The name ‘Stella’ also means ‘star’, so we kept that in mind as a possible design element too. Stella Doula’s packages are tailor made to meet each women’s individual needs. She is also different to other doulas in that she also offers Shamanic Ceremony and Energy Healing for the postnatal period. With all this in mind we began drafting logos and quickly identified two strong concepts.

We moved forward with Concept 1, because we really loved the combination of the S&D initials forming the breast and bump with the hearts of the mother and baby. We chose to develop the variation without the serifs as it had a softer and more delicate feel. The final logo incorporated a sans serif typeface in bold and light weights, and a small star icon to separate the two words of the company name. ­The main version is coloured with glowing blue gradient, with a second version layered with a silver texture and sitting on a blue gradient background for the business card and social media graphics designs.

With the logo design complete, we moved on to design a business card. Due to the dimensions of the logo, we went for a vertical design with plenty of negative space. To reflect the harmonious and spiritual appeal of the brand design, we opted to print the cards on luxurious pearl oyster card stock which has a stunning shimmery surface when moved in the light.
