The client was keen that the logo and branding elements would include ‘wood’ imagery, and perhaps artistic lettering. Since the business name doesn’t explain the product, it was important that sculpture was emphasised in some way (without giving the impression of joinery/carpentry). It was also important that the branding would make clear that the product is bespoke and one of a kind, not mass produced. The client provided images of the products, and the tools that he uses to create them, as inspiration to help direct the design.
After revising a few draft ideas, the final logo design was a combination mark incorporating the letter ‘m’ with a carving tool, accented with little flourishes which connote the idea of wood carving and sculpture. For the colour palette we chose warm, earthy tones to keep in theme with natural wood.
