Why I worked with a business coach

Running a business is hard at times. I am competent in the work that I do and sell, but no one ever taught me how to run a business!

I never knew how to build processes, manage cash flow or lots of the other day to day items that are needed to take a self-employed job through to running a business with employees.

In year 2 of business, I started working with a business coach and over the next 18 months, we went from a team of 2 to a team of 4. We are now a team of 7!

So what's my advice for all new business owners? In short, work with a coach.

I get that working with a business coach can seem like a strange idea to some, but let me put it like this... Who is the best football player you can name? Or a tennis player, or athlete? Imagine the best in the world. Guess what? They have a coach! Every football team has multiple coaches. So why wouldn't you? Business is just as competitive as the sports field so give yourself an edge and talk to a local coach.

I worked with Tim Rylatt who in the interests of transparency is also now a director here at MJS Media but he still coaches and it is well worth booking a complimentary business review.
