Instagram - The new focus feature

Instagram boasts over 800 million active users with nearly 100 million photos uploaded every day! With stats like these, it is hard to ignore that there is huge potential for businesses to reach new markets and connect with customers – it’s not just filled of photos of food!

Since Instagram launched it has regularly been adding new features and when it added the stories function in August 2016, it started to give Snapchat a run for its money. But what’s the latest feature to have been launched recently and is it any good?

Focus


The ‘Focus’ feature will find your face and blur out the background giving your images a professional effect and best of all it works whether you are using your front or rear camera.

This works in a similar way to the portrait feature on the latest iPhones but without the cost of a new phone!

This means that no matter what smartphone you have, you don’t need to use an app to edit your pictures to get this effect before uploading them to Instagram, you can do it all within the app itself.

To use this feature, open the Instagram app, go to your Instagram stories and swipe across to the ‘Focus’ feature and look for a face. Once you have found the face the app will automatically keep the face in focus whilst blurring the background using face detection technology.
